Re: Perlite Products Dustiness Testing – Comparative Analysis
Dustiness Testing – Perlite Products
As we’ve discussed this week, Reddwall Solutions has now completed Dustiness Testing on all six Perlite Products and completed our Comparative Analysis with the results of this study reported herein.
Attached is a pdf copy of the final presentation we developed on reporting the Dustiness Comparative Analysis of the Perlite product line. I’m also attaching an excel workbook, detailing the data we generated on dustiness (Dusting) and Vacuum Filter Fractionation (VFF) testing conducted on each of the Perlite Products we were provided. In addition to this information, we also incorporated into the presentation, pour testing video for each product including 4 repackaged materials and three market packaged materials and two competitive products. Because of the number of video clips imbedded into this presentation, we’re unable to forward the information via email and are providing these files, along with the live presentation, via DropBox. As you’ll find, I recently forwarded a personal invitation from my DropBox so that you can access and download these files. As this represents our final reporting on the work conducted, we’re hopeful that you’ll be able to take advantage of this download and successfully play the presentation. By keeping the files together, each video will link properly with the PowerPoint so you can play the entire slideshow by clicking on each video as you review the material. Please note, if the files aren’t downloaded and kept together with the PowerPoint presentation, the videos will not link properly.

Some of the highlights applicable to this project include:
- We found that the repackaged samples that we originally received generated the same Dusting and VFF outcomes as the market packaged materials provided later in the project.
- The three types of analysis we conducted include testing of each material across a range of starting weights through our dustiness testing system, rapid sieve separation of the particulate to obtain the >38µm/<µ38m fractions and full VFF characterization of each material, absent collection of respirable fractions.
- Data analysis demonstrated that the combination of analysis techniques, generated highly accurate and reproducible results across a range of starting weights.
- The process we developed represents an outstanding method for determining the dustiness potential and for comparing materials across product classes. Thus, it is highly beneficial in evaluating formulation changes and as a means of assessing market opportunities.
- The dustiness system that we engineered can also be used to test inhalable and respirable particulate release should these outcomes be of value. In addition, as a completely contained system, it can be adapted to testing toxins released from liquids as well as solids.
Hopefully, you’re able to download and view the presentation without problem. If you do run into a snag, however, please let me know and I’ll forward a jump drive so you can view this presentation from file.
We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to again be of service and look forward to any questions, comments or discussion you may have relative to this work.
